September 24, 2012. Saratoga, Calif.  -  Growing Stronger today announced the launch of “LP Doc Talk”. LP Doc Talk will host a series of online, live conversations with world leading doctors focused on dwarfism.

Dwarfism occurs before birth owing to rare genetic conditions that reduce the growth rate and size of bones. There are over 200 different types of dwarfism with most being extremely rare. People with dwarfism are referred to as Little People. There are approximately 20,000 little people in the USA.

Dwarfism is often accompanied by medical and orthopedic challenges. People with dwarfism typically undergo 3-15 surgical procedures through their life.  Children with achondroplasia, a major form of dwarfism, may need multiple surgeries to relieve certain medial conditions including sleep apnea, spinal cord compression , and , bowing at the knees. Since dwarfism is rare the number of doctors and researchers specializing in addressing these challenges is very limited.

Growing Stronger is the first-of-its-kind organization uniquely focused on improving the quality of medical care available for little people.   Beginning October 30, 2012 people with dwarfism will have online access to world leading doctors via  live conversation. Currently, the following doctors have agreed to answer questions in LP Doc Talk series: Dr. William Wilcox, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Dr. William Mackenzie, Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, and Dr. Michael Ain, Johns Hopkins Hospital. Additional doctors will be added to the schedule.

Little People and parents can register to attend LP Doc Talks and submit questions online at:
